When Arcade Fire won the 53rd Grammy Award for Album of the Year, it showcased to the world something a little bit different than what most recognize as markers of Canadian music. There was something outstanding about how a Montreal indie band beat out some of the biggest names in the music industry, and it marked a change in how both Canadians – and the world in general – view Canadian music.

In 1999, The Milestone went on a nine-year hiatus until the Department of Communication brought it back in fall 2007.Now the Milestone has come to a critical point in its existence where its fate is in question because of funding concerns.

Kelly Pavlik, former middleweight champion of the world, spoke Tuesday about his alcohol-related problems and future.Pavlik has not fought since April 17, 2010, when he lost to Sergio Martinez by unanimous decision. Since then, Pavlik backed out of fights due to alcohol and injury problems.
