Heading into this years show, three movies, “The Social Network,” “The Kings Speech” and “Black Swan” have separated themselves from the pack.Following major wins at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts ceremony earlier this month, “The Kings Speech” appears to be the appointed one going into the weekend.

Losing streak grows to seven

Easterns mens basketball team extended its losing streak to seven games this weekend with losses to Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky. The first game was against Morehead on Thursday. The Panthers were dominated in almost every statistical category as Morehead grabbed more rebounds (37-33), shot better (44 percent to 40 percent) and committed fewer turnovers (10-to-18).

Body of missing Lincoln student found

The two-month search for a missing Lincoln student ended grimly over the weekend when hunters discovered his body in a wooded area nearby. The decaying body of Talha Ahmad Mahmud, 21, was found Saturday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The SIUE Softball team ended its fall exhibition season on a high note as the Cougars won the Silver Bracket at the Illinois Collegiate Softball Championships this weekend in a two-day tournament.The Cougars needed a seventh inning rally on Saturday to win their first game against Northern Illinois 4-3.
