Now that the first wave of academic program cuts has been announced in response to the state Coordinating Board of Higher Educations mandated program review, attention may be turned to the Universitys own extension of the review. More programs may be in danger of elimination as University departments analyze every undergraduate and graduate degree program offered at UCM.

Academic program cuts bring mixed reactions from campus community

Faculty members and students have exhibited mixed reactions to the Missouri Department of Higher Educations mandated academic program review and the Universitys subsequent decision to eliminate 10 undergraduate majors and one education specialist degree.

Student government: Bring the kegs back to campus

DePauw Student Government continued to call for policy changes Sunday, endorsing the repeal of the universitys keg ban and asking for faculty to return coursework to students within a specific time frame. The keg-policy white paper, authored by sophomore senator Sumeru Chatterjee with assistance from senior senator Alex Kriegshauser, details how the lines and centralized location of a keg can slow alcohol consumption and are better for the environment.

The Universitys popular Program in Liberal Medical Education, which admits students into an all-inclusive undergraduate and medical school track, unwittingly accepted 48 prematurely born infants instead of the usual academic hopefuls. With the addition of unripe neonates to the ranks of future doctors, the program has once again been put under question for whether its early decision process is undermining the quality of the medical student body.
