Dining services reveal plans for ‘Fluh renovations

Students at the SGA meeting on Thursday got a better look at what to expect from the renovations of Weisenfluh Dining Hall.The Slippery Rock University dining services team, led by Deb Pincek, the Assistant to the Vice President of Student Life, and Jeff MacTaggart, the Resident Director of Dining Services, both spoke at the meeting and gave details on what the finished products will include.

Martel College seniors Erik Tanner and Daniel Hays entered the Student Association presidential debate Monday night as “joke candidates,” allowed to participate in the forum for their comedic value over their presidential merits. As the debate came to an end and candidates were afforded the opportunity to give a closing statement, Tanner and Hays turned to a more serious tone, offering thoughtful remarks on the state of the university.

Should committee ban smoking or go up in flames?

Its almost impossible to walk around Easterns campus and not see at least ten students, faculty or staff members smoking outside of a building.But this practice may soon become a thing of the past in Easterns near future.On Tuesday, the Student Senate voted to reform the committee that writes legislation concerning smoking on campus.

The ladies of Higher, Better Movement (HBM), hosted their annual Handsome Black Male pageant on Thursday in the Student Union Building.Students came out to enjoy the pageant and support the four contestants as they competed for the position to be king of HBM.

Amid jeers, hissing, knocking and shouts of “shame,” four student debaters argued whether DePauws ban on kegs should be lifted.Senior Avery Archer, freshmen Taylor Richison and Olivia Flores, and sophomore Jimmy Kirkpatrick met in the Watson Forum Monday night to debate whether kegs should be allowed on campus.
