Its been ten years since Scott Austin began his career as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Jacksonville State University. A lot of changes have occurred during that time with the athletic program. JSU has a new football stadium, there are many more athletes, and there are a lot more banners hanging from the rafters and trophies in the cases.

Freshman Kelsey Lawson currently posts an 18-13 singles record and is 13-14 in doubles play. After winning three consecutive singles matches of the ITA Midwest Regional, the Arizona native qualified for the Main Singles Draw, where she lost in the first round.

Unlike the majority of the 345 NCAA Division I basketball teams in the country, SIUE can say it ended its season with a victory.The Cougars did not win the NCAA tournament or any of the other three post-season tournaments. What they did accomplish was an 84-55 victory over NAIA Hannibal LaGrange to push their record to 8-21 finalizing their three-year stint as a Division I Independent.
