While some high profile athletes prefer to take their talents to South Beach, others like to venture outside of Florida and travel somewhere with a few less beaches. Somewhere like Charleston. Adding to his accolades, senior preseason All-American wide receiver Alex Koors nabbed his first career record this weekend. With 157 receiving yards Saturday, he took the all-time lead in career received yards for DePauw.Koors hauled in six passes, three of which were touchdowns, in DePauws 35-7 victory over Sewanee: The University of the South Tigers at Blackstock Stadium.

A fire Tuesday evening caused Allied Dental Center around $300,000 in damages and destroyed the building on South Main Street.Nobody was inside the building at the time. The last office workers left around 4:20 p.m. according to Lyric McCommons, the receptionist at Allied Dental.

Fans were nothing short of ecstatic at the Chicago premiere of “Takers,” starring the one and only T.I. The famous rapper-turned-actor made an appearance at the Roosevelt Showplace Icon Theater in the South Loop to talk to fans and press about his first leading role in a major feature film.

Students who park in the Commuter East or South Zones may notice a zoning change near South, Rice and McComas Halls in addition to two new parking lots this fall. Mike Harris, Director of Parking Operations, said 224 Commuter East parking spaces near Rice and South Halls were reallocated to South Zone in order to accommodate the occupants of South Hall.

The Eastern tradition of First Night was continued Sunday when more than 400 students chose to spend their last night of summer gathered in the South Quad. The Panther Marching Band, Pink Panthers, cheerleaders, and various other organizations attended and showed their school spirit.
