Residents of the Wick Park neighborhood woke up Saturday morning after two days of heavy snowfall to completely white, impassable sidewalks.By Saturday afternoon, 60 volunteers armed with nothing but shovels and a will to fight back against the winters wrath cleared a path along the Elm Street sidewalks so churchgoers would not have to worry Sunday morning.

Spoiler alert: most Harry Potter fans only dress up for the midnight premieres of the movies. After that, the best costume is to simply wear a red and gold scarf. Meghan Garby, a freshman special education and elementary education major, brought her own wand to the University Boards showing of the most recent movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” Friday and Saturday in the Buzzard Hall auditorium.

Robert Morris may not even be in the NCAA, but a win is a win at this point of the season for the Cougars. SIUE improved to 7-19 on the year with a 74-40 win at the Vadalabene Center Saturday, and it was just another step for the struggling Cougars.Even against Robert Morris, not last years NCAA tournament team from the Northeast Conference, or the NAIA version in Chicago but its satellite campus located in Springfield, Head Coach Lennox Forrester said the Cougars have to be happy with a runaway victory.

For the last two years in January, the Partners Club has indulged in the decadent chocolate feast at the Chocolate Bar in the Café Fleuri Restaurant at the Langham Hotel. This all-you-can-enjoy buffet takes place every Saturday afternoon and features an array of scrumptious chocolate desserts, including the legendary Langham chocolate croissant bread pudding, truffles, cotton candy, whoopie pies, and more.
