Five years after Dodgers owner Branch Rickey made Jackie Robinson the first black player in Major League Baseball, Brown made Duquesne guard/forward Chuck Cooper the first black player taken in the NBA Draft on April 25, 1950.

SBU-TV compiles highlights for ESPN

By the time Duquesne fired up their desperation heave to avoid an upset after Michael Davenport nailed a three to put St. Bonaventure ahead with 1.6 seconds remaining, SBU-TV had already begun work to condense highlights to send to ESPN.Sending highlights to ESPN would not have been possible without the production truck, located outside the Reilly Center, which gives SBU-TV the ability to cover basketball games live.

The Atlantic 10 Championships in February 2010 marked the end of the swimming season for Duquesne, and the permanent end of mens swimming at Duquesne University. A month prior to the Championships, the athletic department announced that the mens swimming, wrestling, baseball and golf teams would be eliminated following the Spring 2010 semester.

Palumbo to get $1.3 million in renovations

The Duquesne University Athletic Department has announced plans for a $1.3 million renovation of the lower level of the A.J. Palumbo Center to begin April, including complete renovations of the mens and womens basketball teams and volleyball teams locker rooms.

Lacrosse team, alumni gather, play for fallen friend

The first Alumni Womens Lacrosse Weekend took place last Saturday and Sunday, bringing current players and alumni together to honor former Duquesne student and lacrosse player Caroline Gallagher Cranston. Cranston passed away in May from leukemia.
