For Beijing native Jasmine Cheng, living in Youngstown gives her a new sense of hope.Cheng, 23, was born and raised in China but has lived in the United Kingdom and Texas. Last summer, Cheng stayed in Youngstown along with 10 other Chinese students as part of an international study program between Youngstown State University and the Communication University of China in Nanjing.

Scott Rices place looks like nothing special – until you step inside. The basement, or the “man cave,” as Rice calls it, is brimming with knick-knacks and instruments, some random (two long saw blades) and some not-so-random, like seven mahogany congas clustered together on top of a blanket of Chinese rugs.
