Last week, the Student Rights Chair for the Student Government Association (SGA) was stripped of her freedom of speech rights when she was asked to resign from her senate position after comments she made to The Eastern Progress were deemed unprofessional by SGA Vice President Andrew Holcomb.

Should committee ban smoking or go up in flames?

Its almost impossible to walk around Easterns campus and not see at least ten students, faculty or staff members smoking outside of a building.But this practice may soon become a thing of the past in Easterns near future.On Tuesday, the Student Senate voted to reform the committee that writes legislation concerning smoking on campus.

About two weeks ago, Tyler Clementi, a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey, committed suicide after his roommate and another person posted a video online of Clementi having a sexual encounter with another man. Witnesses saw Clementi, only 18 years old, jump off the George Washington Bridge on Sept.
