I watched “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ the day it came out in theaters. I had always read the books, though never fanatically – unlike several of my friends, one of whom came to the theater decked out as Divination Professor Trelawney. But I enjoyed the series thoroughly.

Two things happened over the weekend: 1.) The Western Courier Staff attended the 2011 Illinois Collegiate Press Association Conference, where they were recognized with seven awards, and 2.) The Western Courier was threatened with legal action by Ed Lavin, a candidate for mayor, for running a picture of one of the candidates in Wednesdays edition.
